Product Overview

Triethylhexanoin (INCI: Triethylhexanoin, CAS 7360-38-5) is a triglyceride ester of glycerin and 2-ethylhexanoic acid, supplied as a clear colorless to pale yellow liquid with practically no odor. It is a classic “dry-touch” emollient ester: low in viscosity, very fast spreading, and free of the greasy residue typical of mineral oil or heavier triglycerides. Combined with excellent pigment wetting and dispersing power, it is one of the most cost-effective base oils for color cosmetics, sun care and skincare formulations.

Applications & Recommended Use Level

• Color Cosmetics (foundation, lipstick, eyeshadow, mascara, cleansing oil)
• Used as a pigment dispersing vehicle and skin-feel modifier at 5% – 40%. It can partially replace cyclopentasiloxane (D5) and light mineral oil, delivering a silky glide without greasiness.
• Sun Care (sunscreen lotion, cream, spray)
• Solubilizes organic UV filters and improves spreading and film uniformity. Recommended use level 3% – 15%.
• Skincare (lotions, creams, serums, make-up removers)
• Modulates emolliency and leaves a clean, dry finish. Recommended use level 1% – 15%.
• Hair Care (hair oils, masks, leave-in treatments)
• Improves slip and shine while reducing tackiness. Recommended use level 1% – 10%.
